How matching works
Inspecterfly compares saved inspection records using stable room and item identifiers when they are shared between the two versions. Matching identifiers are strongest when you create a later inspection by duplicating an earlier one. Independently created records may still match by room and item names, but name-based matches are less certain.
What comparison labels mean
- Unchanged: The two records contain the same condition state.
- Improved or worsened: The recorded state differs under a simple condition ordering. Read both notes and photos; the label is not a professional assessment.
- New or removed: An item appears in only one record. That may reflect different scope or wording rather than a physical change.
- Unmatched: The records do not provide a reliable pair. Inspect the original reports rather than inferring a result.
Make the records easier to compare
- Use consistent room and item names on both visits.
- Take photos from similar angles and include a clear caption.
- Record dates and whether an item was seen, tested, or inaccessible.
- Keep the original report and backup files so the comparison is not the only copy.
Compare in the workspace
Save both inspections in the same browser, open the comparison view, and select the pair you want to review. The feature displays available notes and condition states side by side; it does not upload records or make a judgment about liability.
For a repeatable first record, try the rental inspection checklist and review the report sections before your walk-through.
